Mark Consuelos Tells Kelly Ripa A Taxi Driver Once Asked Him To Turn Off Their “Annoying” Show While He Was In The Back Seat
Live with Kelly and Mark has taken over taxis — whether Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa like it or not.
On Wednesday, Consuelos revealed that his “back just started feeling better” since he and Ripa took on the show’s Viral Challenges Week. However, he claimed that he has been seeing segments from the special “on Taxi TV,” which plays in the back of taxi cabs throughout the city.
“That’s all you see, is us doing those silly stunts,” he explained.
Ripa recalled she and Consuelos having dinner with friends of theirs, who told them that they had caught some of said stunts.
“They were like, ‘Wow, you guys are so fit. You’re in such great shape. We were watching the show and we saw you doing some acrobatic TikTok moves,’” she remembered.
Ripa proceeded to ask them if they were “in a taxi” on their way over, which they had confirmed.
“And I said, ‘That’s where you saw us,’” she quipped. “You weren’t just watching the show today and you saw us doing viral TikTok trends. You saw that in a taxi cab.”
After Consuelos teased that it’s “because [they] were stuck,” he shared a story from a recent “long drive” in a cab.
“The driver, after like 15 minutes, he goes, ‘Can you do me a favor? Can you turn that off?’ And it was us!” he recalled with a chuckle. “It was us going, ‘Ayye!’”
Consuelos noted that he “was responding to emails” at the time.
“Usually I do turn it off because it’s a lot,” he added. “This guy was like, ‘Please, I’ve been listening to that all day. It’s so annoying.’”
Ripa chimed in, highlighting that their children “were quite young” when their show began airing on Taxi TV.
“On Parents Day, where they have the kids talk about what their parents do for a living,” she continued. “My kids knew I came here. They didn’t necessarily know what it was I was doing.”
She said that they would be “hanging out backstage” or “would go up and hang out in the production office.”
“So when they would say, ‘What does your father do,’ it was, ‘My dad’s an actor.’ ‘What does your mother do?’ ‘She works for the taxis,’” she quipped.
