Kelly Ripa Taunts ‘Live’ Alum And ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Host Ryan Seacrest: “Have You Learned How To Spell?”
Wheel of Fortune host Ryan Seacrest returned to his old stomping grounds at Live with Kelly and Mark on Monday, but that didn’t come without some ribbing from his former co-host Kelly Ripa.
The Live alum and his sister, Meredith Seacrest Leach, joined Ripa and Mark Consuelos to discuss their new children’s book The Make-Believers, but Ripa couldn’t help but ask Seacrest about his new gig.
“So tell me about Wheel of Fortune now. Have you learned how to spell?” she quipped.
Seacrest conceded that he “do[es]n’t text well,” but is “ok” when it comes to the show’s puzzles.
“I kind of know where we’re going with the puzzles,” he added.
Ripa teased, “Cause you have the answer in front of you, don’t you?”
Seacrest replied, “Either in my head or in front of me. It’s somewhere.”
He deemed his “favorite part” of hosting the famed game show to be that “the show means so much to so many people.”
“They grew up with it,” he gushed. “Their grandma watched it, their parents loved it, they watched it together as a family, and it really has that specialness to it. So meeting everybody, giving away the cash and prizes, even more fun than I thought.”
After Ripa asked if contestants are “so excited” to see Seacrest in the flesh, he claimed that they are more excited to see Vanna White.
“Well, not really me. They’re really excited to see Vanna,” he said. “They’re like, ‘Hi, Vanna! Ryan, we see you everywhere.’”
Seacrest and White visited Live in September, where Ripa suggested that White invite her new co-host to her next girls’ weekend.
“I know that it’s just your inner sanctum, but I always say the only guy I would invite to an all-girls weekend is Ryan,” Ripa told White at the time. “He is so fun. I mean, he will be going to bed at, like, 6 p.m. But the mornings start early, and they’re long, and it’s a lot of fun.”
Seacrest added, “She doesn’t look like she’s into it.”
