Kelly Ripa Says She Routinely Gets – And Removes – Tattoos: “I Have Them Removed All The Time”
Kelly Ripa has had a number of tattoos in her life, but she doesn’t live with “tattoo regret” because, as she explains, she’s “living proof that you can have your tattoos removed. Because I have them removed all the time.”
The tattoo discussion, which occurred on today’s episode of Live with Kelly & Mark, came up when Ripa’s husband, Mark Consuelos, brought up the trending conversation on TikTok about women who regret getting their tattoos after realizing “how their tattoos would look like in wedding gowns.”
To that, Ripa dryly responded, “And also in a casket. Women my age start thinking about how will this look in the home.”
Both Ripa and Consuelos admit to having tattoos, and when she asked him if he regrets any of his, he lamented getting the classic comedy and tragedy masks on his arm after they got married in Las Vegas.
“Yeah. The first one I had, I don’t regret that I did it because it was meaningful to me because we went right to Chapel of the Bells, got married in Vegas, and we said ‘What should we do next?’ and I said, ‘Let’s go get tattoos.’ I got the comedy/tragedy masks right on my arm, since then I covered it up with something else, but I regret that one, that was a little too on the nose,” he said.
“I love all of mine,” Ripa later said sarcastically, adding more seriously, “I’m living proof that you can have your tattoos removed. Because I have them removed all the time. Especially… sometimes I’ll put one one and it doesn’t turn out the way I thought it would and I go to Dr. Geronemus and takes it right off. And he goes, ‘How many years are we gonna do this?’ and I go, ‘I don’t know, until I make up my mind.’”
Ripa added, “I always say, particularly to young women, put on a sweater and imagine yourself wearing that sweater for the rest of your life.”
This isn’t the first time Ripa has openly discussed her tattoo removal – she has gotten a flower on her ankle removed, along with a tattoo on her wrist that said “Consuelos.” She also has spoken about getting having the lower back tattoo that she got on their Las Vegas wedding night removed. Because sometimes what happens in Vegas… comes off at Dr. Geronemus’s office.
