Live with Kelly and Mark

Kelly Ripa Hilariously Recaps ‘Live’ Look-alike Contest When “Three Men” Showed Up Claiming To Resemble Her: “What’s Happening Here?”

Doppelgänger discussion dominated the start of this morning’s Live with Kelly and Mark.

Why Fans Want Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos to Change the Name of 'Live'

After Mark Consuelos brought up a Taylor Swift look-alike on this morning’s Live with Kelly and Mark, Kelly Ripa recalled that they “used to have a look-alike contest” on the show. While Live‘s EP Michael Gelman proposed that they “should do that again,” Ripa jokingly insisted, “No, no, no, calm down.”

Consuelos chimed in, “I wasn’t on the show, but I heard all about it.”

Gelman teased that “everyone looks like Kelly,” particularly “every blonde,” to which Ripa added, “Literally everyone!”

“There were three men, I believe,” she continued. “I was like, ‘What’s happening here?’”

Although Gelman said that “they’re look-alikes, too,” Ripa begged to differ.

“I’m sure they are, but they happened to not look like me at all,” Ripa noted.

She explained that the contest had two categories, one for her look-alike and one for the look-alike of her former late co-host, Regis Philbin.

“In both categories, there were two kinds of people: People that really looked like us, and people that looked not like us at all,” she continued, “but had gotten too much encouragement from their friends, family and Gelman.”

Consuelos claimed that he and Ripa “get that a lot.”

“We’ll meet a couple, and they’re like, ‘We’re like the Mark and Kelly, but of us, and we’re like you. And I’m looking at the guy like, ‘Nah, dude.’” he teased. “I said, ‘Take off your shirt. Not you, the guy.’”

However, Consuelos conceded that he has seen one guy that did look like him.

“And I was like, you better tip well, very well at restaurants,” he quipped. “I don’t want to get any bad reports.”

However, Ripa claimed that she’s seen “a few guys” who resemble Consuelos.

“I remember I posted a guy on social media that somebody sent to me on social media that looked just like you,” she noted. “To the point where I was like, ‘Is that Mark?’ But he was minus the tattoos, and I was like, ‘Not Mark.’ But looked like you.”

She continued, “So don’t get comfortable. Because your doppelgänger is out there.”
