‘Live’s Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Read Out Adorable “Puppy Personal Ads” on National Dog Rescue Day
Live with Kelly and Mark co-hosts and certified dog lovers Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos used their eponymous morning show to help some furry four-legged friends in need of a home.
In honor of National Dog Rescue Day, Ripa and Consuelos kicked off their show by welcoming one of their own adopted pups, Lena — who they adopted during one of Live‘s pet adoption segments a couple years back — to their host chat. While Consuelos initially opposed the idea of adopting Lena, he admitted that she’s now his “favorite” and his “best friend.”
He also revealed that the show’s staff has adopted 21 dogs “over the years” from this segment, including their eldest dog, Chewie.
Toward the end of the show, the two co-hosts were joined by dog trainer and author Hannah Richter. Ripa and Consuelos took turns reading out a “puppy personal ad” for each of the “precious pups” — who Richter brought out one by one — which hilariously embodied doggy dating profiles. Just check out the ad for Allie, a three-month-old lab.
“If you don’t wanna fall in love, don’t look into those puppy dog eyes of hers,” Ripa said. “This bona fide brunette loves long walks in the park, riding with the top down, and her fetch game is off the chain. Allie is searching for her soul mate. Are you?”
Allie was followed by Clover, a six-month-old Golden Retriever Great Pyrenees mix who’s “calm, cool, and not afraid of commitment,” a six-month-old Labrador Retriever mix named Cruella “looking for love,” and Spree, a terrier mix who is “about six months old” and is “kind of into heavy petting.” These four dogs were even followed by a litter of Shih tzus
