‘Live’s Kelly Ripa Jokes About Trying To Run Away From Home When Her Mother Wouldn’t Let Her Cross The Street: Four Lefts “And Then I Was Back Home”

As summer nears its end, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos opted to take a trip down memory lane on Tuesday’s Live with Kelly and Mark.

“Would your mom let you leave the house with your friends and then you’d show up at night for dinner?” Consuelos asked his wife and co-host. “Those were the kind of summer days I had.”

He recalled heading out in the morning with his friends on their bikes.

“You know, get up to no good, go into some abandoned building, save a cat,” he teased.

Ripa chimed in, “What abandoned buildings were you going into?”

Consuelos conceded,” I think I’m thinking of that movie Stand by Me.”

After Ripa noted that she has previously visited Consuelos’ hometown with him, Consuelos corrected himself.

“A barn. An abandoned barn,” he claimed. “It was a farm town.”

While Ripa claimed that she “didn’t see any barns there” and that he “lived in a neighborhood,” Consuelos insisted that he lived “on the edge of town.”

“But we wouldn’t come back until it was time to come home for dinner,” he added. “I love that.”

As for Ripa, she remembered doing that, but “everything took place on [their] front lawn.”

“My mom had a thing about us crossing the street,” she shared. “She did not want us to cross the street.”

Consuelos touted that he could cross the street and even “ride [his] bike to the pool, which was about a mile away.”

Ripa replied, “Oh, forget it… Never.”

Although Consuelos teased that he “was a rebel,” Ripa teased what it was like to “run away from home” under her mother’s street crossing regulations.

“You know how you run away from home, and you’re like, ‘Bye, I’m never coming back!’ And your parents were like, ‘OK,’” she jested. “My mom was always like, ‘Well, just remember, you can’t cross the street.’ So I was like, ‘Damn!’”

Despite Ripa denying that she had a “little stick with a little knapsack in the back,” she did disclose the “belongings” she would bring.

“I would take my Farrah Fawcett head. My best friend Farrah Fawcett,” she shared.

Consuelos quipped, “For those lonely nights?”

Ripa then rehashed her runaway route, explaining that she would “walk down the street,” and then make four lefts past her neighbor’s houses.

“And then I was back home,” she concluded.
