Live with Kelly and Mark

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are thinking of their grandparents’ names. Is their family about to welcome a new member?

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are not grandparents just yet, but they want to have “grandparent names” at the ready for when the time comes.

On this morning’s installment of Live with Kelly and Mark, the co-host couple — who share three children — honored the recent arrival of Live director Brian Chapman’s granddaughter, whom they referred to as “the newest member of the Live family.”

After showing the audience a picture of Piper Catherine, who is just three weeks old, Consuelos asked Chapman what his “grandfather name” is going to be.

“Is it going to be Grandpa? Pappy?” he continued.

While Ripa teased that he will be called “Glampa,” Chapman shared that he will adopt the grandfather name Bode, “like the skier Bode Miller,” and his wife Donna will “go by Go-go.”

Ripa gushed that Chapman and his wife “look like Glamazons” and “don’t look like grandparents at all.”

“They both look like two models. Brian should not be behind the camera, but he is,” she added.

Consuelos chimed in, “He’s got a great voice, too. Very great voice. Voice from the sky.”

After Ripa teased that he “looks like what he sounds like,” Consuelos told Ripa, “We have to start thinking about our grandparents names.”

Taken aback, Ripa replied, “Why, have you heard something?”

Consuelos, who shares Michael (27), Lola (23), and Joaquin (21) with Ripa, clarified that he has not heard anything and “it’s not even close,” but that they should prepare to establish their monikers. Ripa then echoed this sentiment, noting that they “have friends that have grandchildren” who gave them this advice.

“They were like, ‘You have to select your grandparents names now” she recalled, “before the others. You have to establish your grandparent names.’”

As for whether Ripa has “thought about it,” she told Consuelos “no,” prompting him to quip with a smirk, “You should start thinking about it there, Granny.”

Ripa noted that Andy Cohen‘s kids call her “Mee Maw” and Consuelos “Pee Paw,” and eventually said that she was called “Madame” during their recent trip to Switzerland.

“So maybe I’ll have them call me Madame,” she proposed. “Don’t you think that’s, like, chic?”
