The Fox procedural drama, created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, serves as a spinoff of 9-1-1 and premiered in January 2020. Led by Rob Lowe, the cast of 9-1-1: Lone Star is made up of actors and actresses playing first responders, including firefighters, paramedics, and police officers, in Texas (hence the “Lone Star” part of the show’s title).
9-1-1: Lone Star debuted to impressive ratings and mostly positive reviews, and it was the second-highest rated drama on Fox during its fourth season, just behind 9-1-1 season 6. Plus, the show has been off the air for over a year and Disney likely won’t extend the cast contracts, meaning they’ll have to be renegotiated for a sixth season (which would mean spending more money). Fox claims it hasn’t made a decision yet regarding the procedural drama’s fate. But it’ll probably end after season 5 (unless ABC or another network picks it up), and without McClain and a proper goodbye, 9-1-1: Lone Star might end on a mediocre note.
