Will Trent

Will Trent is not coming back in June 2024, and there is a long wait on our hands

There are no new episodes of Will Trent in June 2024. That isn’t surprising, but the bad news is that we have to wait until 2025 for new episodes.

There is some terrible news for Will Trent fans. Not only are there no new episodes in June, but we have to wait until 2025 for them.

The lack of new episodes in June isn’t all too surprising. The summer has started, and that means people are out with their friends and families. They don’t want to stay inside to watch TV, so the broadcast networks take time off throughout the summer to avoid damage to the linear ratings.

We usually see a lot of shows back in the fall. This isn’t the case for Will Trent, though. The series will remain a midseason series on ABC, and this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Will Trent will return to ABC in 2025

There isn’t a set date for the show to return just yet. The earliest we could expect it to return is in January 2025. However, ABC tends to hold midseason premieres until February or March. It just works better in terms of the overall schedule. There are no signs as to whether the series will hold its Tuesday night slot, but we hope it will as it was a clear success for the series.

Holding Will Trent until the midseason is arguably a good thing for the show. This series works well as a 13-episode series. It allows for an overarching storyline throughout the season while bringing cases of the week. The cases of the week don’t feel like too much filler, and there’s no need to slip in so many red herrings that they become boring and overused.

On top of that, there’s the consistency. By keeping they show as a midseason one, it means that it can run without breaks in the schedule. There were a couple of breaks for the series in 2024 when it had a February start, but that was also due to it having a 10-episode order. With a slightly longer episode count, a February to May run is possible. A lack of breaks in the schedule is a great way to keep people glued to the screen.
