No Survivors Found After Plane Hits Power Lines and Crashes into Roadway in Central Illinois

Four people have been k,i,l,l,e,d in a small plane crash in central Illinois.
The single-engine plane crashed on 551-587 County Road in Trilla in Coles County at around 10:15 a.m. local time on Saturday, April 19, k.i.l.l.i.n.g all four people on board, the Illinois State Police confirmed.
“ISP Troop 7 was notified of a small single-engine plane crash at the above location. All four occupants were from Menomonie, Wis., and were pronounced deceased on scene,” said police.
“The aircraft remains in the roadway and the roadway will be shut down until later today. This in an active and ongoing investigation,” police added. “No further information is available at this time.”
The Coles County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a post on Facebook that they are on the scene with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and are advising people to “please avoid this area.” The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is expected to arrive on Sunday, April 20, as they continue their investigation.
The NTSB said the crash occurred after the aircraft struck a set of power lines, CBS News reported.
The Coles County Coroner confirmed that the four people k.i.l.l.e.d in the crash were two men and two women, according to the outlet. Their names have not been released at this time.
Footage shared online of the crash site shows burning remnants of the plane sprawled out on County Line Road as investigators tend to the scene.
Witness Kynnedi Goldstein told CBS News Chicago, “I was sitting in my room, and I was getting ready to turn a show on and all of a sudden I hear this noise. It’s like the whole ‘boom,’ and then our power went out for a second, and then our generator kicked on … So then I go out to our sunroom, and I look, and there’s a huge pile of smoke.”

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker said in a statement posted on X, “Terrible news out of Coles County. My administration is monitoring the situation as we keep those impacted by the plane crash in our thoughts today.”
“Thank you to the first responders who rushed to the scene. Please follow the guidance of officials as they provide assistance,” he concluded.
