Is This the End of Fire Country’s Bode and Gabriela? The Show Just Introduced a Surprising Love Triangle

Fire Country might just be ready to say goodbye to Bode (Max Thieriot) and Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila). Or at least, put another pause on it. And considering how badly Gabriela is doing and how much Bode really needs to focus on his job if he wants to keep it, this might actually end up being a good thing for them in the long run. At least, that’s if the new wrinkle the show is throwing Bode’s way, in the form of his fellow cadet Audrey, doesn’t turn into a bigger issue for Bode and Gabriela’s possibilities of ever being happy together than their issues.

Fire Country Season 3 Just Proved Manny Right About Bode & Gabriela (With A Twist)

The thing about Bode and Gabriela, as the last few episodes have showed, is that they jumped back into some sort of a relationship very quickly after Gabriela’s failed wedding with Diego. And she hasn’t really had time to process that. In Fire Country Season 3, Episode 5, titled “Edgewater’s About to Get Real Cozy,” it seems like everyone understands that what Gabriela needs and what Bode needs might not be compatible. And yet, neither Gabriela nor Bode can see it. Gabriela is just trying to survive, even if that means not facing her feelings. And Bode… well, he’s already proven he’ll make bad decision after bad decision for her, even if they’re to his detriment.

But there’s a wrinkle, in the form of Audrey (Leven Rambin). And until the last episode of the show, that wrinkle was just a possibility. It wasn’t obvious. But at the end of the hour, we see Bode at Smokies, texting Gabriela to come join him and everyone else. The bar is, after all, packed. Gabriela isn’t ready to stop hiding from the world, so her reponse—after some thinking—is that Bode should come to her. And normally, Bode would. He even contemplated doing so when Gabriela tried to invite him to her trailer in the middle of a shift. This time, though, Bode doesn’t notice Gabriela’s text because he’s too busy noticing someone else.

That’s right, Audrey has gotten up on stage at Smokies and her singing is enough to distract Bode. Or maybe it’s her? The two clashed at first, but they quickly found common ground at work. Not just that, they discovered they worked well together. And there’s no denying there’s a spark there, it’s just that Bode hasn’t really paid attention to it, since he’s so hung up on Gabriela. However, in the trailer for Episode 6 “Not Without My Birds,” we see the show’s new character, Captain Camden Casey (Jared Padalecki) basically tell Bode that Gabriela is a distraction. Later, we see Bode talking to Gabriela about just that. So, it seems like a breakup—or perhaps a pause, is on the horizon for the two.

Bode and Gabriela's Relationship Is Boring Me to Death on 'Fire Country'

And if so, there will be someone there every day, working with Bode, who might end up picking up the pieces of his broken heart. A rebound is sometimes just that, a rebound. But sometimes, it can be more. Why not? The show gave us enough of a love triangle with Gabriela in the center in the first two seasons, it might just be Bode’s turn to be in between two women. And though our instincts tell us that Gabriela will always come out on top, stranger things have happened on TV. And one thing is certain, if there is such a thing as right time and right place, Gabriela isn’t there. Not right now.

So, perhaps it’s Audrey time?
