‘Fire Country’ Season 3 Premiere: Gabriela’s Wedding Interrupted by Helicopter Crash – Bode and Gabriela’s Future is slowly revealed

Will Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) say “I do”? Well, it sounds like everyone’s going to have a much bigger concern when Fire Country returns for its third season on Friday, October 18—and she won’t be stopping to change out of her wedding dress to leap into action.

CBS has now released the logline and photos for the premiere, “What the Bride Said,” and it’s all about the helicopter crash that brings chaos and leads to everyone jumping into action to stop fires and help victims, just one of several details in TV Insider’s Fall Preview story for the new season. That emergency will feature “very interesting authentic firefighting work,” exec producer Tia Napolitano told us.

We’ll have to wait to see if Gabriela marries Diego (Rafael de la Fuente), but whatever happens, sparks will continue to fly between her and ex-love Bode (Max Thieriot). “Everything feels new because Bode has always been incarcerated until this season and they were forbidden on multiple levels for almost every episode,” said Napolitano. “Bode has agency now. He doesn’t have to rely on other people to advocate for him. That adds a new level of attraction and complication to their dynamic.”

Also changing for Bode now that he’s out, as we started to see in the Season 2 finale and expect to see more of in “What the Bride Said,” are his relationships with his parents, Vince (Billy Burke) and Sharon (Diane Farr). “It’s new and fresh. Vince and Sharon have spent so much time worrying about Bode after he comes back into their world in the pilot,” the EP previewed. “They have to check themselves about what it’s like to parent an adult man who normally should not have them over his shoulder or advocating for him so fiercely as they have.”

Even the actors behind Gabriela and Bode didn’t know where their romance could go after her wedding to another man.

“I think if you’re a person of integrity and a good hearted person, the universe somehow finds a way to place you where you’re meant to be — even if you’re not following in those tracks,” Arcila teased to Us in May 2024 about her thoughts on where the story could go. “But I am excited to read what they’re going to write next season. I feel like one of the audience [members] right now waiting.”

Meanwhile, Thieriot was just as unsure about whether Gabriela ultimately called off her wedding. He was confident, however, that Bode and Gabriela needed a break after going through so much leading up to their reunion.

“He knows he still has work to do. But I think that he’s finally at a place where he’s able to pause and take a breath and make decisions that are a little more thought out before he rushes into them,” Thieriot explained. “That’s something that we see in the finale too. He’s been able to be apart from her more and seeing her kills him and seeing her getting married really kills him.”
