Morena Baccarin Shares New Details on Her Fire Country Spinoff
Morena Baccarin will soon be starring in Sheriff Country, a spinoff of the hit series Fire Country. Ahead of the show’s arrival, Baccarin has shared some new details about her character.
Per Collider, Baccarin commented on Sheriff Country during a panel hosted by Maggie Lovitt at Fan Expo Canada. She shared how she’s not sure just yet where the story will go, as the series is still in the midst of having its pilot episode written. With that said, Baccarain was able so share some new details about the background of her character, Mickey Fox, who previously appeared in in Fire Country to help set up the spinoff.
“I actually know absolutely nothing. They’re working on the first episode [with the] staff in the writers room right now. You know the script for the first episode,” Baccarin said. “I have a daughter, and I am enmeshed in this sort of, like drama, political drama that’s happening in the town, having to do with illegal marijuana growth, which is what my dad got arrested for.”

It was revealed early this year that Baccarin would be starring in Sheriff Country, and her character was introduced in the “Alert the Sheriff” episode. In May, the spinoff was officially ordered to series for the 2025-26 season. While there’s still a bit of a wait for fans to see the spinoff, it won’t be quite so long before they’ll have a chance to see Baccarin’s Mickey Fox again. It was recently revealed that Mickey will pop up in Fire Country Season 3. Baccarin’s show could also end up becoming just one of multiple Fire Country spinoffs to be developed for the franchise.
“We are focused on mass-appeal franchises,” CBS President and CEO George Cheeks previously teased to Deadline before Sheriff Country was officially announced. “This season’s number one show was Fire Country, which completely lends itself to building out a whole new universe… It became very clear that not only was the show special, it really felt like this could be a great example of us building together a franchise from scratch. And so I’m like, ‘you guys, congratulations, you got your back nine. Now let’s start talking about ideas for new extensions.’ They’ve already come up with some great ones.”
Fire Country returns with Season 3 on Friday, Oct. 18. Meanwhile, Baccarin can currently be seen on the big screen with her role in the hit film Deadpool & Wolverine, which just reclaimed the top spot at the box office in its fifth weekend in movie theaters. Baccarin previously appeared in the first two Deadpool films as Vanessa.
