Max Thieriot has a beautiful love story with his wife, Lexi Murphy. And she also helped inspire Fire Country
Max Thieriot and his wife, Lexi Murphy, have been together since they were teens
Max Thieriot made his acting debut at the age of 15 — right around the same time he met his wife, Lexi Thieriot (née Murphy).
The Fire Country star and his wife have been together since their teenage years. Although they’re both from California, they actually met overseas while on vacation with their families. Seven years later, Max brought Lexi back to that vacation spot to propose. The following year, in 2013, the couple got married.
“Best weekend of my life,” Max wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) following the nuptials. “Married the most beautiful and amazing woman in the entire world.”
In 2015, the pair welcomed their first child together, son Beaux. Their second son, Maximus, followed soon after in 2018.
So who is Max Thieriot’s wife? Here’s everything to know about Lexi Thieriot and her relationship with the actor.
They met as teenagers
Before meeting, the pair were born and raised in Northern California — Max grew up in Occidental, a small town in Sonoma County, while Lexi lived in Santa Rosa — but they crossed paths far from home.
Their chance encounter came in 2005 when the two, both 16 years old at the time, were on vacation with their respective families in the Caribbean. By that point, Max had only just started his acting journey with movie roles in Catch That Kid alongside a young Kristen Stewart and The Pacifier with Vin Diesel. Despite his budding Hollywood career, he and Lexi started dating and have been together ever since.
In 2019, Max shared a sweet throwback photo of their first Valentine’s Day together on Instagram. “Happy Valentine’s Day !!!” he wrote in the caption. “Throwin it back to our first one ❤️.”
He proposed on vacation
After dating for seven years, the couple got engaged. In 2012, Max took Lexi on a trip to the Caribbean, the same place they met as teenagers. During the two-week vacation, he popped the question.
“I think she expected it was coming,” the actor told Flaunt Magazine. “Then, she ended up thinking it wasn’t going to happen because I waited a whole week before I asked.”
They married in 2013
One year after getting engaged, Max and Lexi tied the knot in Lake Tahoe. The couple said “I do” on June 1, 2013, in an outdoor ceremony surrounded by friends and family, including Stewart, Max’s childhood costar, who attended the wedding.
A few days later, Max celebrated his newfound marital status with a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), writing, “Best weekend of my life. Married the most beautiful and amazing woman in the entire world.”
In 2019, he shared a sweet birthday post for his wife on Instagram. “I’m reminded every day that I’m the luckiest guy in the world because the first thing I get to see when I open my eyes is your face,” he captioned a selfie of them. “Happy birthday to you my queen!”
They have two children
Max and Lexi quietly welcomed their first child, son Beaux Thieriot, on Dec. 7, 2015.
Twenty days later, Max announced the news on social media. “Christmas came early this year!” he wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post. “@lexithieriot and I are so excited to announce the birth of our son Beaux. We love him to the moon!”
Three years later, they welcomed a second son, Maximus Thieriot, in January 2018.
That same month, before Maximus was born, the proud dad shared a photo of his growing family on Instagram, writing, “So much to be thankful for and look forward to this year but these 2 (soon to be 3) are at the top of that list for me. ❤️.”
She helped inspire Fire Country
In 2022, Max’s hit show Fire Country premiered on CBS. As creator and co-writer of the series, the actor has spoken at length about his creative process, crediting the show’s creation to his life experiences growing up near wildfires in Northern California. But another big part of the show’s development came from his wife.
“When I started writing it, in the beginning, I wasn’t sure what the route was going to be. In the beginning, my intentions were to try to create this world and pitch it, and then have them make a show,” he said during an interview with Collider.
“As we went through the process, I wasn’t sure that I was gonna act in it, or if I would just recur,” he continued.
He went on to share that several people, including his SEAL Team costar AJ Buckley encouraged him to take the starring role. Ultimately, though, Lexi was the one to persuade him.
“My wife said, ‘Babe, you have to play the role’, ” the Bates Motel actor said.
Even before nudging him to take that leap, Lexi was partly responsible for the show itself. In an interview with Keep Hammering Podcast, Max explained that the idea for a show about a prison inmate volunteering to fight wildfires came from his other half.
“My wife’s cousin is a CEO at an inmate fire camp and so I knew about [California’s inmate firefighter program],” he said.
They share a love of wine
Being from Sonoma County, it’s no surprise that Max quickly developed an interest in winemaking. In fact, the SEAL Team actor was raised on a vineyard — his parents purchased B.A. Thieriot, a winery, in the late 1980s.
In 2011, he followed in his family’s footsteps with Senses Wines, a winery he founded with two of his childhood friends. “Growing up around wine country, this is something that I’d always hoped I’d have the chance to do,” he told Town & Country.
It’s a passion that he and his wife share. Lexi’s love of the wine industry came after landing an internship in Napa Valley. After graduating from Loyola Marymount University in 2010 with a degree in business, she worked at Landmark Vineyards for three years before joining the team at Senses Wines.
