‘Fire Country’ Season 3 – Everything We Know, Including 4 Cast Members Returning!

Fire Country is returning for anothe rseason.

The CBS drama proved to be a hit once more in 2024, with a third season confirmed in early March.

In the show, Bode Donovan is a young convict with a troubled past hoping to redeem himself by volunteering for the California Conservation Camp Program, in which prisoners assist the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, known as Cal Fire. The series follows him as he’s assigned to his hometown in Northern California as he works with former friends, other inmates and firefighters putting out fires in the region.

Fire Country Season 3 will return this fall.

CBS released the fall 2024 TV programming schedule, and the show will be airing during the Friday 9 p.m. slot later this year.

We do not have an exact premiere date just yet.

Max Thieriot addressed what other challenges he’d like to see in Season 3.

In an interview with Deadline, he said: “I hope to do more stuff with floods. Those are obviously pretty massive and I grew up in an area that was not far from the Russian River, which would flood at times. The fire departments are intimately involved in dealing with that. I think would be fun to do if we can figure out how to do it in a big scale. As a director, it is definitely something I’ve been wanting to do. I’ve thought through a lot of different ways that we can accomplish some of those scenes without it getting too crazy expensive, but still have it feel like a big scale.”

Max Theriot also addressed that Season 2 wedding cliffhanger.

“It was a big group decision and something I know that Tia Napolitano, our showrunner, was really excited about having. It is funny because you start trying to anticipate what the audience wants or expects. There’s also this feeling that while it would be satisfying, you also wouldn’t be fully satisfied because that’s the thing you just imagined was going to happen and then you’re left feeling almost too comfortable. You see Bode wanting so badly to say to her ‘no, don’t do it.’ The entire buildup, how he goes into the church … what’s fun about it is you see him finally being at peace with his decision, and his decision is, ‘I need to be a firefighter. I need to do something.’ But we’re also living it in a place where we don’t know if Gabriela and Diego ever said ‘I do,’” he explained to Deadline.

He added: “I was a big fan of the decision to leave it a bit vague. People are going to be upset either way, right? It’s like you’re pleased with the outcome if he breaks it up, but then you’re also left feeling like it’s just wrapped up and done. Conversely, you want so badly for them to be together that if she does say ‘I do’ to Diego, he’s gone. Leaving it vague, with everything where it’s at, the weight of the situation, was the strongest move.”

There’s a spinoff coming, which will see Mickey leading her own show.

When asked about the upcoming spinoff, and how it could be introduced in Season 3, the showrunner told Cinema Blend: “Yeah, we want to expand Edgewater, and Mickey is part of Edgewater. So we definitely want to have her come play on Fire Country, and get to know her more and get to know who she is to all of our people to build that world so that Sheriff Country feels like a natural expansion of the universe and it’s just more Edgewater for our viewers.”

The spinoff isn’t expected to arrive until next year.

CBS greenlit the series in May 2024, but it’s not expected to premiere until the 2025-2026 season.

“We do long-term development at CBS now,” CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said. “[The extra year] gives us plenty of time to cast it and figure out how we want to produce it. It’s a huge opportunity for us and speaks to the kind of development we want to be doing.”

Max Thieriot as Bode Donovan (aka Bode Leone) – RETURNING

Max is back as Bode for Season 3.

When asked about his haircut for Season 3, showrunner Tia Napolitano laughed and told TVLine: “I’m not sure if we’re going to change Bode’s look. That’s a Max decision.”

Rafael de la Fuente as Diego – RETURNING

Rafael joined in Season 2 as Diego, a paramedic training Gabriela.

“We’ll see some Diego…,” showrunner Tia Napolitano confirmed in May 2024 to TVLine. “We’ve got to find out how that wedding ended, don’t we?”

Kevin Alejandro as Manny Perez – RETURNING

Kevin will be back as Manny in the third season. His future will play out right after his arrest in Season 3.

“We’re going to live in the real-time events of what happens after he gets arrested for having punched Luke at that event. So we’re not going to get the answer right away of how this is gonna go for him. And I think that’s a very anxious place for a person to be, especially a person who was incarcerated at one point…I think we will worry for Manny and really root for him to redeem himself again,” the showrunner told Parade.

Jordan Calloway as Jake Crawford – RETURNING

Jordan will be back as Jake in Season 3.

The showrunner said to Parade that we’ll pick back up from that cliffhanger with Rick, Genevieve and Jake very quickly in the Season 3 premiere.

“I just loved Jake’s face when he looked back at Genevieve. He’s so heartbroken, like ‘oh kid, it’s about to get so much harder for you.’ And Jake’s just grown so much. He seems like the dad everybody wants. And I think Rick will surprise you. We’ll go on a surprising little journey with Rick as well.”

Stephanie Arcila as Gabriella Perez – EXPECTED TO RETURN

Stephanie is expected to be back for Season 3 as Gabriella.

Billy Burke as Vince Leone – EXPECTED TO RETURN

Billy is expected back as Vince in Season 3.

Diane Farr as Sharon Leone – EXPECTED TO RETURN

Diane should be back as Sharon in the third season.
