Below Deck

Below Deck Season 11, Episode 16 Preview: Ben Willoughby Tired of Captain Kerry

It’s the end of the charter season, and basically, Bosun Ben Willoughby is tired y’all. He’s tired of catering to guests, tired of long hours, and finally, he’s tired of dealing with Captain Kerry Titheradge. Sleeping with his subordinate, Sunny Marquis is the only respite the Australian native seemingly has.

In a preview for Below Deck Season 11, Episode 16, the crew is prepping for the final charter. Captain Kerry radios Ben to meet for a look-through at the deck area, and he’s not happy with what he sees. There is attention to detail that’s not being adhered to. Ben’s reaction was frustration. Here’s what went down.

Ben said Captain Kerry is “micromanaging galore”

As Kerry walked the deck, he briefed Ben on what he wanted to be accomplished.

“You’ll make sure these umbrellas come down before we leave,” the captain said. “Sharpen these up, the drains.”

In the belly of the craft, the duo looked over the storage area. The captain told Ben, “I want us to be very cognizant of how tidy this is down here. I don’t like how this looks right here. That hose and that line. It needs to be neat.”

Additionally, the jet ski was “salty.” Ben suggested his team rinse it “on the way out.”

And with that, Kerry retreated to the galley to make himself a coffee and bemoan the lack of consistency on his deck team.

“I’m just going to rinse them every f-ckin time,” Ben mutters to Sunny, who was wiping down a jet ski. “It’s starting to piss me off.”

“It’s like Captain Kerry’s got his knickers in a knot, it’s the last charter. I’m just like ‘C’mon Captain just chill out.’ I just feel like I’ve got to bite my tongue right to the end and just say ‘yes sir, let’s get on with it.’ It’s a bit annoying,” Ben said in a confessional interview.

Even after Kerry left, Ben continued whining about his boss. Something really got the Bravolebrity going, but he seems to mask his emotions when necessary.

“He’s just micromanaging galore. I’m just sick of it. I don’t give a f-ck if he’s Captain or god,” Ben also complained.
