Captain Glenn Shephard Can’t Hide His Disappointment With Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 Cast – “Too Bad”
Below Deck Sailing Yacht just came back after being off the air for over a year, and now Captain Glenn Shephard is teasing the out-of-control behavior that viewers can expect from the cast this time. During that hiatus, speculation kept mounting over whether Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 would even happen, especially after Gary King’s behavior that was seen on the show as well as accusations of sexual misconduct lodged against him by a makeup artist. While Gary denied any wrongdoing, the accusation sparked rumors that Bravo might edit Gary out of the show or else cancel it completely.
Glenn Shephard admitted that Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 will have a ” few incidents ” with cast members that will cause him to ” crack the whip. ”
During an interview with TV Insider, Captain Glenn admitted that Sailing Yacht season 5 will have “a few incidents” between cast members. He didn’t want to reveal too much so that viewers can experience the season without spoilers, but he admitted he had to “crack the whip because some people stepped out of line.” Glenn likes to give the cast some space, but he can’t stand people who “give an inch and they take a mile.” In other words, taking advantage of leniency is a big negative for him. When that happens, he has to “put them in their place.”
Overall, though, the Sailing Yacht cast this time around is a “great group of people.” There are obviously some returning stars, including Gary and Daisy Kelliher, who have bad blood between them. Captain Glenn acknowledged that those two have “some leftover feelings,” but all he witnessed was professionalism. Based on his comments and what transpired in the Sailing Yacht season 5 premiere, Daisy and Gary will rehash their issues and then try to move on so they can have a successful charter season.
It’s a great crew. We have a few incidents where things could have gone a lot better than they did, without giving too much away. I did have to crack the whip because some people stepped out of line. I try to give them a little bit of space, but I don’t want to deal with people who give an inch and they take a mile. That’s a problem and when I have to put them in their place. You see a little bit of that this season. Mostly, I would say it’s a great group of people. We meet our challenges and get past them. I think it was a successful season.
I knew there would be some leftover feelings from last season, but I also know [Gary and Daisy] are adults and find a way to put that aside. All I’ve ever seen from them is professionalism. That’s what I counted on. Of course, they will chat about it but also get on with doing their jobs. They know that’s why they are there.
What Captain Glenn’s Warning Means For Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5
Gary King Might Not Be Causing Drama This Season
Captain Glenn obviously didn’t want to reveal which Sailing Yacht stars got involved in some major drama that caused him to metaphorically “crack the whip.” However, his comments about Gary and Daisy might have revealed that Gary isn’t one of those cast members who stepped out of line. The captain acknowledged that Gary and Daisy needed to resolve their differences.
However, he made a point to say those two are professionals who have serious jobs to attend to. He seemed to insinuate that any drama involving them wasn’t enough to warrant the captain stepping in to tamp down the drama. Only time will tell which Below Deck stars face Captain Glenn’s wrath.
Our Take On Below Deck Sailing Yacht Cast Stepping “Out Of Line”
Captain Glenn Might Fire Someone
There was a lot of trepidation leading up to the premiere of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5, specifically because of Gary’s bad behavior. Even if Gary is on his best behavior this season, he has yet to be held accountable. As for the other cast members, it sounds like Captain Glenn might fire at least one of them, which would be a major change after Captain Sandy Yawn didn’t fire anybody during Below Deck Mediterranean season 9.
