Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 has been one of the most highly-anticipated premieres of the year, but the season may wind up being a flop because of Gary King’s bad behavior. Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 is one of the longest-awaited seasons in Below Deck franchise history, as many have been looking forward to the show’s return since the last season finished up. With a crew led by Captain Glenn Shephard, Below Deck Sailing Yacht has been one of the more interesting series within the larger franchise. The crew works aboard a large sailing yacht, named Parsifal III.
While it’s similar to the other Below Deck franchise shows, Below Deck Sailing Yacht has an x-factor that has always made it a more dramatic, more interesting show. The crew of Parsifal III, which has had some of the same members throughout nearly the entire run of the show, has always been ready for the high-level of drama that’s expected of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. During the most recent season, Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher, Chief Engineer Colin MacRae, and First Officer Gary were tangled in a major love triangle, but Gary’s behavior may change the drama of the upcoming season.
Fans Don’t Want To See Gary Back Following Misconduct Allegation

Although viewers have been hoping to see Below Deck Sailing Yacht back, many were under the impression that it would be without one of its central cast members. While Gary has always been known as a womanizer and a playboy, his time on BDSY hasn’t necessarily made him an enemy of the women who watch the series until last year. After Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 ended, it came out that Gary had allegedly had a rough situation with a member of the Below Deck franchise makeup team, and was being accused of sexual misconduct.
The misconduct allegations weren’t necessarily shocking to Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers who were aware of the way Gary’s behavior had impacted the show in the past. While no one was happy about the issue, some were unfazed while others called for Gary’s removal from the series. Though Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 was already filming, many of the show’s loyal fans weren’t happy with the fact that Gary was involved in the first place, and wasn’t removed after things went public.

Although Gary has always been candidly himself on Below Deck Sailing Yacht, hearing about the problematic behavior he’s been displaying was difficult for some viewers who weren’t aware or quite how bad things had become. While Gary has vehemently denied the allegations against him, things have been dug up from his time on Below Deck throughout the years that prove the misconduct allegations aren’t the only things that could be used against him. It doesn’t seem likely to most Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers that Gary will ever change his ways, especially when he’s not punished for his alleged wrongdoings.
Colin MacRae Isn’t Returning To The Show
His Breakup With Daisy May Have Been The Last Straw
Although Gary and Daisy will be back for Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5, the other member of the love triangle won’t be returning. Colin, who has been a part of the series since the show’s second season, chose not to return for Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 after his relationship with Daisy blew up in an emotionally overwhelming way. After parting ways with Daisy, Colin found himself in a new relationship and took on a new position with another Captain, making viewers wonder if Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 is worth the watch at all.
