Below Deck Med Captain Asks For Help

On Sunday this weekend, the Below Deck Med captain took to her Instagram and shared some photos of a school that had been flooded. It turned out that the school is a not-for-profit place and they help autistic kids. Additionally, bringing it close to home, she mentioned that her sister works there.

Captain Sandy Yawn wrote in her caption:

Friends, Fans, & Supporters as you know my sister @girldunham and her school @jaxschoolautism suffered a devastating flood that has displaced all the students, including my nephew Nick, as well as the dedicated staff. This tragedy has placed a tremendous burden on families who rely on the support and resources that JSA provide.

So, she asked her Below Deck Med followers to help with donations if they were able. And, she gave them the link, “https://www.jsakids.org/product/donate/”

In the comments section, most Bravo fans loved that she stepped up to ask for help. While some people snarked about it, those with family and friends who struggle with autism were quick to send in their approval. Here are some of their reactions:

  • Great use of the platform Captain Sandy… At least we know the funds will go to where they’re needed especially with such a trustworthy captain at the helping helm.
  • Oh no Sandy, so sorry to hear this devastating news, I totally understand the impact this will make, my grandson is autistic and fully understand the needs and help. Will donate to JSA…
  • God bless – what a great way to help out – people do not understand even with insurance it doesn’t cover everything and it takes a long time – please support special needs children…
