Breaking News: Captain Jason Chambers Criticizes Bravo, Below Deck Down Under Season 3’s Fate at Risk of Cancellation?
Below Deck Down Under may be coming back soon after a few cryptic comments from the wildly popular Jason Chambers as he also criticized Bravo over different payment standards. Below Deck Down Under first debuted as part of the wider Below Deck franchise on Bravo in March 2022, with the much loved Aesha Scott serving as Chief Stew alongside Captain Jason and a brand-new interior and exterior crew and chef. When Aesha appeared in the currently airing Below Deck Mediterranean season 9, there were concerns about the future of Below Deck Down Under.
” Does this mean our season is getting closer to the screens? Mmm I wonder?”
In an Instagram post on Chef Tzarina‘s page, Captain Jason left a somewhat cryptic comment to hint at the return of Below Deck Down Under. He said, “Below deck down under crew in LA, does this mean our season is getting closer to the screens? Mmm I wonder?”
After seemingly dropping the first hint, a commenter, @bev_davis3, posted under one of Captain Jason‘s Instagram posts, “When will we see you back in Below Deck???!” Captain Jason replied, “Soon,” with a heart emoji. After a long wait, these comments hint that the much anticipated Below Deck Down Under season 3 may be on its way to television screens soon.

Captain Jason Expresses Frustration Working For Bravo
It is no secret that one of the major draws to Below Deck Down Under was Jason, the easygoing captain who chartered his guests to jaw-dropping locations in Australia. With brand-new Chief Stew Aesha at his side, Captain Jason was able to make Below Deck Down Under a major success and secure a second season. After the show aired its dramatic and shocking second season, the show went on a hiatus, with speculation growing that Below Deck Down Under had been quietly canceled. Though not canceled, the future of the show was up in the air.
The news that Jason is returning as Below Deck Down Under season 3 captain is a relief and signals they’re heading in the right direction. While happy to be back, Captain Jason’s employment with Bravo is not as simple as it would seem. On Reddit, Bravohusband captured a recent comment from Captain Jason, in which he explained that “the show pays virtually nothing until you get a few seasons.” He also explained that he cannot work as a captain elsewhere while working for Bravo. “I can’t work in between, as captains are full-time. No owner wants a revolving captain.”
It has been a long wait for any news regarding filming or casting for Below Deck Down Under. When asked if he would ever go boating again, Captain Jason explained that he could not do both Bravo and be a private charter captain simultaneously. Captain Jason continued to say that to be a captain, he has to be “100% committed,” so for now, he is spending his time with his daughter until filming for the next season of Below Deck Down Under begins. Many followers of Below Deck may not have known about this particular situation.
It’s a very difficult situation for many people who work on yachts, as they cannot predict where they will be in the future.
When hiring for any of the Below Deck shows, Bravo informs the interested candidates they must be available for at least a year after their season airs. It’s a very difficult situation for many people who work on yachts, as they cannot predict where they will be in the future, so many opt out of working until the year is over. One cast member revealed that they were paid $6,000 for the season, plus the tips they earned. Bravo really needs to consider how much they are actually willing to give to their employees on Below Deck Down Under.
Below Deck Mediterranean airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
