Below Deck

Ellie Dubaich Fired, Is Bri Next?

Ellie's behavior with Bri caused issues aboard Mustique, making her professionalism questionable.

Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 has featured some of the most intense Stew drama between Ellie Dubaich and Bri Muller, but I think it’s time Ellie was fired from Mustique. Throughout Below Deck Mediterranean season 9, Ellie and Bri’s drama has caused issues aboard the superyacht. Ellie, who has nearly a decades-worth of superyacht experience, was hoping to use her opportunity aboard Mustique to prepare for the hectic life of a Chief Stew. Excited at the opportunity to work with Mustique’s Chief Stew Aesha Scott, Ellie was looking forward to the charter season and ready to work with the team.

In the early phase of the charter season, Ellie and Bri were able to work closely and create relationships with the rest of the crew aboard Mustique easily. When Ellie shared with Bri that she was attracted to Deckhand Joe Bradley, she didn’t feel like there was any competition between the Stews, but things changed quickly when Bri hooked up with Joe after a crew night out early in the season. Their personal relationship was destroyed, and with the issues between them getting more difficult, their professional relationship suffered as well. While Bri was difficult, I think Ellie became intolerable.

Aesha Can’t Trust Ellie

She Doesn’t Get Her Work Done

While Ellie’s behavior with Bri has been difficult for some Below Deck Med viewers to get behind, the issues with Ellie are far more severe for Aesha than a simple personal dispute. Ellie’s behavior toward Bri after she heard about Joe’s hookup with Bri has been hostile, despite the fact that Ellie said she wouldn’t let her personal feelings get in the way of her professionalism. With Ellie pushing Bri and making it difficult for her to learn more about her position, she’s also been struggling to get her own work done aboard Mustique, failing to prioritize the right tasks.

Bri Has Improved Compared To Ellie

Though Bri and Ellie have both been dealing with issues aboard Mustique, Bri has been doing her best to change her ways. Trying to learn more about the laundry system aboard the superyacht and how to understand what work is priority versus what isn’t, Bri has made strides in her work on Mustique, while Ellie has stayed stagnant. Ellie has been clear that she knows what she’s doing aboard a superyacht, but rather than taking advice or direction from Aesha, she’s been standing firm in her pre-existing knowledge. Ellie’s been stagnant, making it clear Aesha should consider letting her go.

Ellie Is Too Focused On Joe Bradley

She Seemed Like She Was Over Him

While Ellie’s time aboard Mustique was always meant to be in a service capacity, her charter season has focused around her attraction to and relationship with Joe. The Lead Deckhand has openly been playing Ellie and Bri against each other, making their relationship suffer while they both fought for his affection. Ellie, who was open about her attraction to Joe early on, waited to get physical with the Deckhand until things settled with Bri, but struggled in her feelings for the exterior team member. Ellie’s focus on Joe throughout Below Deck Mediterranean has made her more likely to be fired.
