Kate Chastain shares about her cute son
The Below Deck alum and former chief stew put her yachting skills to use when decorating her son’s nursery.
Kate Chastain may no longer be traveling around as the chief stew on mega yachts, but the Below Deck alum has still been able to apply her skills to her everyday life at home.
As Kate recently explained to The Daily Dish, her tablescape and themed decor skills came in handy when it came to decorating the nursery for her son, Sullivan Cay.
In the July interview, Kate explained her vision for Sullivan’s nursery, sharing that she kept it pretty traditional with a standard color scheme, but added some adorable touches inspired by her love of travel.
“His room is the cutest room in the house and it is so themed,” she said. “The rug is blue and white, and then I have blue-and-white gingham curtains. I have posters from the South of France that I got when I traveled there. Pastels. So it’s like a cool travel baby nursery. I love his room.”

Kate, who appears in the Below Deck Mediterranean After Show (watch it above!), noted that having to do tablescapes while yachting contributed to her sense of home decor.
“Because tablescapes, usually you would theme them… The runner is like the base, and so you build it from there,” she explained to The Daily Dish.
How Kate Chastain’s Son, Sullivan Cay, Changed Her Home
While Sullivan’s nursery is perfect for him, Kate told The Daily Dish that she has had to baby proof her house now that Sullivan is getting older and getting into things.
“What’s interesting is, I mean, I have way too many toys for him, everything he could ever want,” she explained. “Yet, for some reason, children just want to get into the cleaning cupboard under the sink and into the toilet and [to] play with the washing machine.”
In an Instagram Story posted to her account in April, Kate revealed that Sullivan has officially taken over her living room with his many toys. In the video, Sullivan was seen sitting in the living room surrounded by dozens of toys while bubbles flew around him.
“Me: when I have kids I’m not going to let their toys run my house,” she wrote in the Instagram Story. “Also me: bubble machine in living room.”
