The popular Below Deck spin-off is known for its dramatic moments, but Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 has brought the most controversy yet thanks to the new chef and bosun. Bravo recently released a sneak peek of the Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9 After Show, featuring Chief Stew Kate and Aesha Scott. In the episode, Kate gave her honest opinion on Chef Jono, stating that while he was fun at first, his attitude eventually turned sour.
She mentioned, “I feel like her can get a little bi**hy,” which Aesha agreed with, adding that Jono could be quite “sassy.” The conversation then turned to Bosun Iain, with Kate hinting that he wasn’t fit for a management role.

Kate understands the importance of professionalism in the culinary industry and recognizes the negative impact Chef Jono’s attitude has on his food. Similarly, her expertise in working with bosuns and deckhands helps her to identify when crew members like Iain aren’t meeting expectations in their roles.
Although Kate is usually on point with her judgment, she might want to reconsider publicly calling out her peers.
As a former chief stew, she knows how hurtful criticism can be. She also understands the yachting industry well and realizes that her words could impact her fellow cast members’ future opportunities. Referring to Jono as “bi**hy” or Iain as just a “deckhand” could potentially hinder their chances of returning to Below Deck. It would’ve been more constructive for Kate to keep her critiques to herself instead of airing them out on Bravo.
Just like Iain and Jono, Kate caused quite a stir during her time on Below Deck. She found herself in a major scandal back in 2016 when she was charged with domestic violence. Despite the drama, Kate still appeared on the show. However, her interactions with her colleagues revealed a less-than-friendly side of her. In some ways, her actions were even more troubling than those of the Below Deck Mediterranean cast members, Jono and Iain.
