Below Deck’s Captain Kerry Threatens Ben & Kyle As Feud Intensifies

The Below Deck franchise is known for its drama within the cast, and now Captain Kerry Titheradge from Below Deck season 11 is threatening Ben Willoughby and Kyle Stillie. Below Deck season 11 has been filled with many different feuds between the cast members, and there were even some cast members who chose to leave the boat on their own (Cat Baugh) or were fired (like Anthony Iracane). While many crew members have had problems with their captain, it is rare that it turns into a full-blown feud, which is what is now developing between Captain Kerry, Ben, and Kyle.

“This is a total disrespect, and it is not following the chain of command.”

Ben and Kyle miserably failed their recent cabin check, which infuriates Captain Kerry, who is seen in a preview clip for the next episode of Below Deck season 11, courtesy of Bravo, angrily threatening them with unknown consequences.

In a previous episode, Captain Kerry declared there would be cabin checks for all crew members. Everyone else passed, but Ben and Kyle did not. The clip continues with Captain Kerry sending Kyle and Ben to try to clean their cabin.

Is Captain Kerry Being Too Harsh On Ben & Kyle?
Captain Kerry’s Patience With Ben Is Running Out

“Go down, get your room sorted out. And if you don’t, there’s going to be consequences,” he tells the two exterior crew members. Captain Kerry is generally a fun, easygoing captain who tries to help his crew wherever he can, so his angry words to Kyle and Ben are unfamiliar. “I’ve gone out of my way to help you in this journey. I’ve shown both you guys respect. I’ve been out here, and I’ve busted my a** to help you guys out,” he adds.

While it may seem harsh to hear it so blatantly, Captain Kerry’s words are not out of line when it comes to Ben’s recent behavior. Ben began his time on the St. David as a deckhand, but when Bosun Jared Woodin left the boat, Captain Kerry promoted Ben to the position. Ben seemed to be on a promising rise to the top, but his recent actions left Captain Kerry with more and more reasons to fire Ben. His decision to willfully ignore Captain Kerry’s orders to clean their cabins because he did not want to was the last straw.

Earlier in the season, before Ben was promoted to Bosun, he became involved in a “boatmance” with fellow deckhand Sunny Marquis. Controversy arose when Ben decided to promote Sunny to Lead Deckhand, which appeared to be a conflict of interest because he did not end his relationship with Sunny. Another deckhand, Dylan Pierre De Villiers, believed at the time that he was the one who was most qualified to be Lead Deckhand. Dylan mentioned that he felt Sunny only got the job because she was in a relationship with Ben, and Dylan then went on to spread rumors about Sunny.

Although the recent mess-ups by Ben have been very disrespectful towards Captain Kerry, Ben has not been terrible all season, even though he has a tendency to be a little full of himself. He does understand how to work on a boat and what needs to be done to ensure things are running smoothly, but Ben’s attitude toward other people and his superiors could use a lot of work if he wants to continue climbing the leadership ladder in yachting. Captain Kerry’s angry discussion with Ben and Kyle over their blatant disrespect for him will hopefully shake Ben up.
