It was speculated Gary would be edited out, or perhaps the entire season would be scrapped. Ultimately, when the show returned after a year, and there appeared to be no change to Gary’s role.
However, Gary suggested the season was heavily edited. In October, Gary wrote on Instagram, “Scary how one persons lies can ruin someone’s career and livelihood…. most of me will probably be edited out of this season.” Gary should be thankful to be on the show at all instead of complaining about his edit after the negative publicity he received. Due to the fallout from the scandal, the network’s best recourse would be to get rid of Gary altogether.

Gary Already Made A Mistake In Episode 2
His Boat Crash Could Have Been Extremely Costly
Gary’s personal and romantic troubles took a toll as he made a costly mistake early in season 5. While driving the tender boat at night, Gary crashed it into rocks. Captain Glenn was understandably alarmed about the damage to the tender, particularly the possibility that the engine may become flooded. Fortunately, the damage was only cosmetic. Gary shouldn’t be making careless mistakes, and his recklessness indicates his performance is slipping.
Although Gary has been a staple of Below Deck Sailing Yacht for years, it is time for the show to re-evaluate his future. Gary has become a liability, and his performance is suffering. Disgust over Gary’s behavior is driving viewers away. The show’s best bet for success would be to address the misconduct allegations, which includes getting rid of Gary.
