Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 may not wind up getting released, and if that’s the cast, I’ll be blaming First Officer Gary King’s poor behavior for the cancelation of the beloved series. While Below Deck viewers may not have been shocked by Gary’s behavior on the series in the slightest, when it comes to the way he’s behaved off-screen, even fans who have been watching for years were alarmed. Gary’s time on Below Deck Sailing Yacht has been focused on the fact that he’s a playboy type, but as a man in his forties, Gary’s behavior is, frankly, uncomfortable.
Introduced as the First Officer on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2, Gary has been on the series for the majority of its time on the air. As one of the main crew members who has stuck around from season to season, viewers have gotten to know Gary in a more in-depth way than other crew. Throughout Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s run, Gary has been consistently involved with women that he’s worked with in a more intimate nature. While he hasn’t been dating the women of the crews he’s been part of, his time on Parsifal III has nearly always led him into hookups with his fellow crewmates. Gary’s playboy status on Below Deck Sailing Yacht has seemed like a joke in the past, but when the pattern of his time aboard the sailing yacht is laid out, it’s clear that he’s always found someone to hook up with during his time on board Parsifal III.

After Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4’s reunion, it was revealed another season of the series would be filming quickly thereafter. After the filming had already begun, allegations of sexual misconduct against Gary came to light. Shared by a Below Deck franchise makeup artist, it was alleged that Gary was rough with Samantha Suarez when she tried to remove herself from his hotel room after trying to get him ready for his call time. While Gary has vehemently denied the allegations, the alleged victim said Gary made her feel uncomfortable and she wasn’t the first person this had happened to.

The Season Has Been Delayed Without Warning
Although the allegations against Gary came out quickly after Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 started filming, Bravo didn’t do anything to change the trajectory of the season. Gary, who had been scheduled to film the upcoming season after BDSY season 4 along with Daisy Kelliher, was still a part of the crew and didn’t seem to be released from his role or fired from the crew. Instead, Gary continued on filming the next season of the series. While Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 has been wrapped for over a year, the season still has yet to be released.
If Below Deck Sailing Yacht Is Canceled, Gary Is To Blame
His Behavior Is The Issue
Although Gary’s behavior has been poor throughout the run of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, the allegations lodged against him are vastly different than his everyday playboy behavior. The idea that Gary could rattle someone as much as he may have during his off time on Below Deck Sailing Yacht is appalling, and while the allegations aren’t proven, it doesn’t take much to stretch the imagination and believe he likely did what was said. Even if he didn’t, Gary’s behavior on the series is poor enough that it seems plausible, which seems like enough of a reason to take immediate action.
If something happens to Below Deck Sailing Yacht, like a cancelation or a reshoot that causes a longer delay in the series return, I believe viewers should hold Gary accountable. Whether or not he actually behaved poorly with the Below Deck makeup artist who spoke up about her experiences with him, Gary’s time on the show has made women uncomfortable, and his behavior has been difficult to watch. If the series is canceled because Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 isn’t able to be aired, Gary’s the one who’s at fault for continuously behaving badly year after year.
