9-1-1: Lone Star' Season 5 Trailer Shows 'Off the Rails' Train Crash

The Fox series dropped its first teaser trailer for season 5, which promises to be explosive as the emergency response team — led by Rob Lowe’s Owen Strand — faces a massive train derailment.

The 30-second preview kicks off with Strand and the 126 — including Tommy Vega (Gina Torres) and Nancy Gillian (Brianna Baker) — arriving and observing the area before cutting to a shot of a train skidding off the rails and crashing onto its side.

Firefighter Marjan Marwani (Natacha Karam) is then seen yelling into a walkie to “evacuate the area” before the train crash sets off a number of explosions. In another scene, a first responder is thrown back by the fire as Strand says, “Dispatch, we have a problem.”

The teaser then encourages viewers to “relive every heart-pumping moment” from the previous seasons before revealing that new episodes are slated to air this fall.

The clip concludes with Lowe saying, “This isn’t the end. This is just the opening act.”

The first look comes amid rumors that season 5 of Lone Star will be its last after Deadline reported in June that series regular Sierra McClain left the show and that the rest of the cast had been given a “take it or leave it” option on their contracts. Per the outlet, McClain went back and forth with the studio before ultimately deciding to part ways with the series.

In May during Upfronts, Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade addressed questions about a renewal past season 5 by saying that the network is “going to see how that goes as always, and then make decisions on that about the future of that franchise.”

“Lone Star was not on the schedule this year because of the strike, and we’re really looking forward to getting it back on in the fall,” he said. “We are excited about the new season.”

Following the news, stars Rafael Silva, 29, and Ronen Rubinstein, 30 — who play police officer Carlos Reyes and paramedic T.K. Strand, respectively — reassured fans on Instagram that nothing had been decided yet.

“Wherever the ship sails, [I’m] grateful for the family I’ve created on this show,” Silva wrote on June 10, per TV Line. In his own post, Rubinstein echoed his costar, writing, “Nowhere in that article stated a certain fate for our show.”

“But one thing I do know for certain is we will continue pouring our blood, sweat and tears into these last few episodes and deliver to you our most special season yet,” he continued. “I better see all of you in September.”

Lone Star, a spinoff of 9-1-1 (which has moved to ABC), follows Owen Strand, a New York City fighter who relocates to Austin, Texas with his son, T.K., as they and other emergency responders attempt to balance saving people with solving problems in their own lives.
